Lawful basis for processing personal data

For the purposes of GDPR we are both the data controller and the data processor when we sell to our retail and trade customers.  This can be either with a direct transaction, through a variety of on-line selling platforms or through our website providers, Shopify and Squarespace.  The lawful basis under which we process data received from our customers is that of “Contract” – where processing is necessary in order to answer your enquiries and fulfil your orders. 

What personal information does UK Homeware Ltd collect?

The information we receive is voluntarily submitted by our customers either before or at the point of sale.  The data we receive can include name, address, e-mail, telephone number, details of the item to be purchased and payment details.

We will not ask for, and do not intend to collect, any sensitive personal information about you.

We do not hold customer’s financial information; this is held securely by our third party service providers.

Why does UK Homeware Ltd collect personal information?

We need to know basic personal information about you in order to provide you with the goods or services you order or information about the goods or services you may supply to us.

How is your personal information protected?

UK Homeware Ltd will hold your personal information securely using appropriate technical and organisational measures and will not disclose your information to anyone who does not have an official connection to the company, or to any person or entity outside the United Kingdom.

We may share information if a customer asks us to, we have the customer’s permission to do so, we are required or permitted to do so by law or it is required by law enforcement, fraud prevention or credit reference agencies.

We do not sell or rent personably identifiable information to any third party for any purpose.

How long does UK Homeware Ltd keep personal information?

Your personal information will be kept for no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless it is required to be kept longer by law.  There is a legal requirement for accounting information to be retained for a period of 7 years, and your personal information may form part of this.

Our third party service providers may include but are not limited to: Amazon, Ebay, Etsy, Hermes, DPD, Royal Mail, iZettle, PayPal, Shopify, Squarespace and Google Analytics.
